I’m a Tennessean with two decades’ experience in journalism and freelance writing and editing. Additional experience includes podcasting, photography and book publishing.

I’ve worked at newspapers ranging in size from community bi-weeklies to metro dailies like the Chattanooga Times Free Press. I was editor of The Daily Beacon at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. My newspaper experience includes copyediting and covering nearly every beat.

I’m a member of the Society of Professional Journalists.

I have a communications degree from UTK and an MBA from Bryan College.

Linked In endorsement from Bob Lutgen, former managing editor-operations at the Chattanooga Times Free Press: “Jason has worked as both a copy editor/designer and business reporter at the Times Free Press and did a very good job in both positions. I found him to be a careful editor and reporter who strived to provide a quality newspaper for our readers. If I were to be in need of a strong journalist, I’d hire Jason.”

Followers of the Cross â„¢ is the name of a blog and podcast series in which I interview Christian authors, musicians, actors and other creative professionals. Interview subjects include Brian “Head” Welch of heavy-metal band Korn; CCM singers Jason Gray, Plumb and Jordan Feliz; author, pastor and filmmaker Lucas Miles; and author Robert Vera, biographer of the late Navy SEAL Ryan Job.

I’m writing a sci-fi humor trilogy titled “The Hairy Crown Conspiracy.” More information is here.

I live in Middle Tennessee with my wife, son and our “farm” full of pets: 12 backyard chickens, three cats and two rescue dogs. When I’m not writing or spending time with family and pets, I enjoy reading, writing books, traveling, photography and geeking out over science fiction.
